Block from the European market for ALOHA SUNSCREEN products

The European Union Rapid Alert System for non-food dangerous products (RAPEX) has announced that the following British-made ALOHA SUNSCREEN products have been withdrawn from the European market:

(1) SPF 8 Sun Lotion, 250ml with Batch number/ Barcode: 5037378002850 – batch n° 11823, 42324, 12181, 17314, 16112, 15462, 14512

(2) SPF 30 Sun Lotion, 50 ml with Batch number/ Barcode: 5037378005011 – batch n° 29244

(3) SPF 50 Kids Lotion, 50 ml with Batch number/ Barcode: batch n° 37014, 52835, 50725

(4) Sensitive SPF 30, 200 ml with Batch number/ Barcode: 503737005059 – batch n° 49555, 37084, 51585, 24813, 50525, 13633, 14353, 27993

(5) Sensitive SPF 50, 200 ml with Batch number/ Barcode: 5037378005073 – batch n° 50725, 28624, 28573, 11853, 28003, 14893, 14997, 29854

(6) SPF 15 Spray Lotion, 200 ml with Batch number/ Barcode: 5037378004038 – batch n° 30014, 11863, 11473, 52925

(7) SPF 30 Spray Lotion, 200 ml with Batch number/ Barcode: 5037378004045 – batch n° 63266, 58915, 49225, 51725, 23433, 11873, 50515, 51765

The products have been recalled as they contain the preservatives methylisothiazolinone (MI) and methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI) which are prohibited in leave-on cosmetic products.

The products have been on the market since April 2016. Since there is no clear indication to which countries they were exported to, the Pharmaceutical Services are investigating the possibility of their importation to Cyprus.

The public is cautioned, that if they are in possession of any of the products, to discontinue use immediately, and to call the Pharmaceutical Services at 22608606 or 22608663 if the come across any of these products.
