Summer is here, and summer time always rhymes with ice cream time. The only problem, is that our craving for this highly sugary desert is often in conflict with our “bikini-body” goal.
Indeed, the ice creams you can buy in shops often contain an incredibly huge amount of sugar. Not to mention all the added ingredients which can be detrimental to our health.
But what if we told you that it is super easy to make your own healthy ice cream?
The advantage of making your own ice cream is that you can control every ingredient you use. You can get really creative, and create delicious flavours. But most importantly, you can eat as much as you want without feeling guilty. Isn’t that the dream?
The most common way to do a healthy ice cream is to use bananas instead of eggs and non-dairy milk. It takes very few ingredients and you don’t even need an ice cream maker. You can mix the bananas with other frozen fruits. The possibilities to create healthy ice cream are endless!
To show how simple making homemade ice cream, here is super easy and delicious recipe you can enjoy all summer without feeling guilty!
To serve 4 to 6 you will need:
4 ripe bananas
2-4 tbsp of unsweetened almond milk (or the milk of your choice)
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
- Peel and cut the bananas in half and freeze them.
- Once the bananas are frozen, combine all the ingredients in food processor and blend until you get a smooth consistency. Add more milk if necessary.
- You can serve immediately or you can freeze and keep it for later.
Bananas are full of healthy nutrients, such as potassium, prebiotics, resistant starch and fibre. In other words, bananas are good for your blood pressure and to boost your metabolism. Besides, cinnamon is also really good for your health: it is a natural sweetener, helps controlling blood sugar, and is a good anti-oxidant.
