The term superfood has become very popular in food language, but what exactly is a ‘superfood’?. The Oxford dictionary defines superfoods as “a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being”.

Superfoods are packed with vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants which help to minimize cell damage caused by oxidation from free-radicals. Free-radicals are partly produced by our body metabolism but can be exacerbated by external factors such as pollution, cigarette smoke, burnt food and deep-fried fats, just to name a few.

As we know green foods are good for you, so green superfoods shoudld be twice as good for you, no? That’s right, they have the highest concentration of easily digestible nutrients, vitamins and minerals, proteins and fat burning compounds.
